Kay Arnold, 73, Geneva, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014.
Among survivors are one son, Richard (Tacy) Fravel of Monroe; two daughters, Becky Fravel-Heyerly of Bluffton; and Lisa (Mike) Roderick, Rosedale; two step sons, Jerry (Wanda) Arnold of Bryant; and Norman Arnold of Peoria, Ill.; two step daughters, Nancy (Robert) Dull of Geneva; and Patricia (Sam) Skinner of Albany; sister, Elaine Betts of N.C.; brother, Jimmy Lee Malott of Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Rev. John L. Pennell, 81, Willshire, Ohio died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014. Arrangements pending at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home.
Marvin J. Renkema, 83, Decatur died at his residence Friday, Nov, 14, 2014. Marvin was born in Holland, Mich. on Aug. 31, 1931, to the late Minard and Minnie (Deloff) Renkema. He married Helen L. O’Dell on June 21, 1986. She survives in Decatur.
Marvin attended the New Hope Church. He was a truck driver for 50 years and owner of MJR Express. He served his country in the US Army from 1950-1952. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43.
Victor R. Steiner, 96, Berne, formerly of Monroe, passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Swiss Village in Berne. He was born in Adams County on Jan. 26, 1918, to the late Cyrus and Amanda (Bruchy) Steiner. He married Margaret Reichenbach May 18, 1952; she preceded him in death on May 19, 1993.
He was a self-employed farmer in the Monroe area and also worked at Berne Furniture for 7 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942-1946 in the South Pacific Islands.
Eldora M. Fuelling, 94, Decatur, passed away on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Adams Woodcrest.
She was born in Adams County Sunday, Aug. 8, 1920, to the late Adolph and Minnie (Stoppenhagen) Bultemeier. She married the late Hubert F. Fuelling on Feb. 21, 1987, in Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim and he preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2006.
Joyce M Chaffins, 54, Bluffton, died at 10:30 p.m Sunday, Nov. 09, 2014, at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
Among survivors are her husband, Ken Chaffins of Bluffton; son, Wesley Chaffins of Bluffton; daughter, Emily M. (Chad) Houser of Bluffton; grandchild, Chase Houser of Bluffton; four brothers, Tom Hirschy of Bryant; Dave Hirschy of Geneva; Ron (Sandy) Hirschy of Decatur; and Derryl (Teresa) Hirschy of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis P. Doescher, 97, Bluffton, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton.
Among survivors are a daughter, Susanne Rettig of Crown Point; son, David (Jeanine) Doescher of Munster; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
A family funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7227 Hohman Ave., Hammond with Pastor Art Burkman officiating.
Pearl A. Lybarger, 100, Geneva, died Friday, Nov. 07, 2014, at Swiss Village Retirement Community.
Among survivors are four daughters Gloria Farlow of Fort Wayne; Carolyn Sue Murphy of Bryant; Mary (Glen) Hiss of Spokane, Wash.; Lee Ann (David) Wolfe of Germantown, M.D.; one Sister, Mary Gillespe of Cincinnati; 14 Grandchildren, 30 Great-Grandchildren; and 38 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
James L. Martin, 79, Decatur, passed away on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital. He was born in Van Wert County Feb. 5, 1935, to the late Charlie and Mildred V. (Troutner) Martin. On July 29, 1967, he married Helen P. Dettrow.
He was a member of the Decatur Lighthouse Assembly of God. He worked as a mechanic for over 30 years with Indiana Michigan Power Company, retiring in 1987.
Helen A. Rydell, 90, Decatur, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at her residence.
Helen was born in Casey, Iowa Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1924, to the late Ira E. and Lulu M. (Kistler) Hiscocks. She married the late E. Eugene Rydell May 20, 1945, in Los Angeles, Calif. and he passed away on Nov. 23, 2008.
