Hazel M. Ellis

     Hazel M. Ellis, 98, of Monroeville, and formerly of Decatur, passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Adams Heritage in Monroeville.
     She was born on Sunday, Dec. 19, 1915, in Paradise, Ky., the daughter of the late Oscar F. Buchanan and Belva R. (McCormick) Buchanan. She married Glenn L. Ellis on Feb. 19, 1938; he preceded her in death on March 11, 1987.

Tony L. Gerber

    Tony L. Gerber, 50, Berne, passed away Dec. 16, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
    He was born to James and Jeannine (Schultz) Gerber on April 1, 1964 in Adams County.
    Survivors include; his mother, Jeannine of Berne; brother, Michael (Jamie) Gerber of Berne; sister, Teresa Ponder of Tampa Bay, Fla.; nephews Kadin and Jerrad Gerber; nieces Mara Myers, Caylin Ponder and Aubri Gerber; and great-nephew, Emmett Myers.
    He was preceded in death by his father.

Herbert H. M. Goelz

    Herbert H. M.  Goelz, 88, of Hoagland, passed away on Wednesday, Dec, 17, 2014, in the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
    He was born on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1926, in Decatur, the son of the late William Goelz and Alma (Tewers) Goelz.  He married Dorothy C. Knipstein on Nov. 4, 1951, in St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock; she preceded him in death on Aug.9, 2014.

Larry Wittwer

    Larry Wittwer, 80, of Angola and longtime resident and business owner from Bluffton, passed away Monday, Dec. 8, near Walnut Creek, Calif., while on vacation visiting his son, Jerry.
    Larry died from complications following emergency surgery the prior week.

Myles R. Anderson

    Myles R. Anderson, 64, of Monroe, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital.
    Myles was born on March 15, 1950, in Monroe to the late Dr. Ernest Anderson Jr. and Gertrude L. (Brandyberry) Anderson.
    Myles was a 1968 graduate of Adams Central High School and a member of the Bridge Community Church in Decatur. He was employed by U.S. Postal Service as a rural route mail carrier. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.

Mary Louise Pusey

December 16, 2014

    Mary Louise Pusey, 86, a resident of Geneva, died Dec. 10 at Chalet Village in Berne.
    Her parents and four sisters are deceased. She is survived by two nieces.
    Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Geneva. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Geneva in the spring.
    Arrangements were handled by Downing and Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.
 

Ronald Smith

    Ronald “Scott” Smith, 41, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 in the Adams  Memorial Hospital.
    Scott was born on Friday, Nov. 16, 1973 in Elkhart, the son of the late Ronald L. Smith and Donna J. (Bowers) Smith.
    He attended The Bridge Community Church in Decatur.
   He was employed at Keystone RV in Goshen for eight years.

Peter J. Minnich

    Peter J. Minnich, 64, Berne, passed away Saturday, Dec. 13,2014, at his home.
    He was born to Urban and Helena(Welsch) Minnich on Oct. 14, 1950 in Portland.
    Peter was a member of the St. Marys of the Presentation Church, Geneva, and a graduate of Purdue University. He was owner of the Edelweiss Floral & Gift Shop in Berne for 35 years. Peter was a very talented and creative florist as he displayed his floral arrangements. His interests included his love for animals, gardening, and traveling.

Edward F. Sprunger

    Edward F. “Ed” Sprunger, 89, of Decatur, met his Heavenly Father, on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Ed was born on March 20, 1925, in Adams County to the late Martin F. and Cora (Mertz) Sprunger. On May 6, 1953. he married Marilyn R. Norton.
  Ed was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church and was chairman of the trustees and held many offices at the church.

Karel Louise Dailey

    Karel Louise (Thieme) Dailey, 74, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014. She was born in Decatur to Harold and Alma Thieme.
    She was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.
    Diagnosed with lung cancer in 2010 she stayed strong in her faith and drew strength from the knowledge that God was always there for her and never left her side.
