John J. Hunter

April 11, 2013

    John J. “Jack” Hunter, 89, of Bluffton, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at River Terrace Estates in Bluffton.
    Jack was born September 1, 1923, in Decatur, to Joseph and Francis (Baker) Hunter.
    Growing up, he was very active in the Boy Scouts, obtaining his Eagle Scout award and later serving as a Scout leader for several years. He graduated from Decatur High School before enlisting in the United States Navy Air Corp during World War II.

Gerald M. Kohne

    Gerald Michael “Mike” Kohne, 77, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    He was born on April 2, 1936, to the late Dr. Gerald Joseph and Margaret Elizabeth (Sheley) Kohne.
    Mike married Bonnie L. Hake on September 11, 1965; she survives in Decatur.
    He was the owner of Decatur Package Liquors for 30 years and he also worked for nine years at the Bob Heller Insurance Agency.

Kathryn V. Wynn

     Kathryn was born on February 25, 1917, in Adams County, to the late George W. and Clara J. (Mauller) Hill.
    On September 25, 1938, she married David C. Wynn; he preceded her in death on October 24, 1989.
    Kathryn was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Builders Sunday School class, the United Methodist Women and was also a member of the Decatur Order of Eastern Star 127. She was a homemaker.

Julia C. Bertram

    Julia Carolyn "Judy" Bertram passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Lakeland Home in Angola.
    Judy was born in Decatur on April 26, 1918, daughter of Roman R. Parent and Clara A. Tricker Parent.
    She lived most of her adult life in Fort Wayne and had spent the last nine years at her home at Lake George. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Fort Wayne in 1939. She was a cat lover, bird watcher and avid cook book collector.

Garald A. Lutz

    Garald A. “Gary” Lutz, 62, of Geneva, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Portland.
    He was born April 9, 1950, in Elkhart, to the late Ramon R. and Wilma M. “Polly” (Kline) Lutz.
    Gary was employed as a machinist for more than 35 years with several manufacturers in the northwest Indiana area. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting and playing billiards.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

    Pastor Jesse D. Klingaman, 65, of Craigville, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Jesse was born on December 15, 1947, in Richland Center, Wisc., to the late Rupert E. and Ethel I. (Klock) Klingaman.
    On May 26, 1972, he married Claudia M. McClure; she survives in Craigville.

Nicholas Liechty

    Nicholas Liechty, 32, of Aurora, Colo., passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at his residence.
    He was born on Monday, February 16, 1981, in Augusta, Ga., to Thomas Liechty and Beth (Wolfe) Rettig.

Deane D. McMillen

April 8, 2013

    Deane D. McMillen, 85, of Willshire, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
    Deane was born on Sunday, April 10, 1927, in Adams County.
    He married Hazel A. Strickler on November 20, 1947, in Willshire.  They celebrated 65 years of marriage this past November; she survives in Willshire.
    Deane served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 207 in Willshire. Deane retired from International Harvester.

Jerome W. Lichtenstiger

    Jerome W. "Jerry" Lichtenstiger, formerly of Decatur, died March 3 at his home in Akron, Ohio.
    Among survivors are his wife, Eleanor (Harrop) Lichtenstiger of Akron, Ohio; two sons, Steven (Michele) Lichtenstiger of Rittman, Ohio, and Neil Lichtenstiger of Texas; and a daughter, Diane (Larry) Miller of Virginia.
    A memorial Mass was held March 25  in Akron and there was a private burial in Western Reserve Military Cemetery in Rittman.
