Joyce A. Spitler, 67, Berne, died Saturday at Swiss Village.
Among survivors are her daughter, Amanda L.(Paul) Zerby, and son, David (Natalie) Spitler, both of Berne.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Geneva.
Ruth Elaine Brown died on January 3, 2013, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Geneva, the only daughter of Theodore and Adah (Felty) Meyer.
Ruth married Willis Brown in 1957.
They raised their family in Geneva and only left home late in life to join their sons in S.C. The Browns attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Portland and Dutch Fork Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C.
William James Gibson, 80, died on December 14, 2012, in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
He was born in Hoagland on August 16, 1932.
Bill was a retired U.S. Army Veteran, who distinguished himself in the Korean War and through two tours in Vietman. He holds two Silver Stars and a Bronze Star for heroism.
Steve Hindenlang, 51, of Decatur, died on Wednesday, January 2, in the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
Among survivors are his parents, Gene and Judy Hindenlang; two sons, Joshua Hindenlang and John (Jazmen) Hindenlang; and daughter, Kayla (Rick) Meyer, all of Decatur.
Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m.
Burial will follow in the Ray Cemetery.
Vera Andress Dusseau, 87, Berne, died Wednesday.
Arrangements are pending at Yager-Kirchhofer.
Berniece I. Frauhiger, 95, of Decatur, died January 1, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
She was born in Berne on June 24, 1917, to the late Alfred and Aldulla (Mathys) Hannie.
On May 20, 1939, she married Harry R. Frauhiger. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1971.
Berniece was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, the church choir, Martha Circle and Keenagers. She was a homemaker and also worked for J.J. Newberry’s and Val Corp for 15 years.
Dan R. Kirkendall, 71, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at his residence.
He was born on Monday, March 10, 1941, in Indianapolis.
On July 8, 1978, he married Carolyn R. Ontrop in Portland; she survives in Decatur.
Dan served his country in the United States Army from 1963-1965.
He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, where he was a former Eucharist minister.
Richard E. Lothridge, Jr., 59, of Geneva, died on Wednesday at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Among survivors are his wife, Jackie (Bailey) Lothridge, Geneva; five sons, Richard T. Lothridge, Portland; Thomas Lothridge, Geneva; Clayton (Casey) Lothridge, Decatur; Chad Lothridge, and Jason Lothridge, both of Indianapolis; and daughter, Autumn Lothridge, Geneva.
Robert L. Teeple, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013.
He was born in Decatur to the late Leo and Bessie (Martz) Teeple.
Robert was owner and operator of Teeple Truck Lines. He was a member of New Haven's St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 330, and Fort Wayne Traffic Club.
Duane Orville Whisman, 79, passed away at his home in Decatur on December 20, 2012, after a short illness. He was with his family when he passed.
A longtime Decatur resident, Duane was born May 20, 1933, to Bernard and Irene (Lightheart) Whisman of Harrison, Ill.
Duane graduated from Hononegah High School, Rockton, Ill., where he lettered in football and track.
