April 9th
Garald A. “Gary” Lutz, 62, of Geneva, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Portland.
He was born April 9, 1950, in Elkhart, to the late Ramon R. and Wilma M. “Polly” (Kline) Lutz.
Gary was employed as a machinist for more than 35 years with several manufacturers in the northwest Indiana area. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting and playing billiards.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
April 8th
Pastor Jesse D. Klingaman, 65, of Craigville, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
Jesse was born on December 15, 1947, in Richland Center, Wisc., to the late Rupert E. and Ethel I. (Klock) Klingaman.
On May 26, 1972, he married Claudia M. McClure; she survives in Craigville.
Nicholas Liechty, 32, of Aurora, Colo., passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at his residence.
He was born on Monday, February 16, 1981, in Augusta, Ga., to Thomas Liechty and Beth (Wolfe) Rettig.
Deane D. McMillen, 85, of Willshire, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
Deane was born on Sunday, April 10, 1927, in Adams County.
He married Hazel A. Strickler on November 20, 1947, in Willshire. They celebrated 65 years of marriage this past November; she survives in Willshire.
Deane served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 207 in Willshire. Deane retired from International Harvester.
April 5th
Jerome W. "Jerry" Lichtenstiger, formerly of Decatur, died March 3 at his home in Akron, Ohio.
Among survivors are his wife, Eleanor (Harrop) Lichtenstiger of Akron, Ohio; two sons, Steven (Michele) Lichtenstiger of Rittman, Ohio, and Neil Lichtenstiger of Texas; and a daughter, Diane (Larry) Miller of Virginia.
A memorial Mass was held March 25 in Akron and there was a private burial in Western Reserve Military Cemetery in Rittman.
Joseph S. Shetler, 14, of Geneva died Thursday at his residence.
Among survivors are parents Mahlon K. and Martha J.M. (Schwartz) Shetler of Geneva; six sisters, Barbara S. (Alvin A.E.) Graber of Berne; Savilla S. (Andy D.) Eicher, Martha S. (Chris D.) Eicher, Sarah S. (Johnny A.E.) Graber, Rose S. Shetler, and Emma S. Shetler, all of Geneva; and three brothers, Mahlon S. Shetler, Andy M. Shetler, and Henry M. Shetler, all of Geneva.
April 4th
Stanley J. "Deak" Gallogly, 82, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in the Adams Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born on Wednesday, October 22, 1930, in Adams County to the late Dewey and Hazel (Smitley) Gallogly.
Pamela S. Johnson, 63, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday evening, April 2, 2013, at her residence following a 14-year battle with cancer.
She was born on Saturday, June 4, 1949, in Decatur, to the late Daniel and Jennie (Carr) McCoy.
She married Earl E. Johnson on August 17, 1974, at Zion United Church of Christ; he survives in Decatur.
David E. Moore, 83, of Bluffton, passed away at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Ossian Health Care.
David was born in Decatur on March 17, 1930, to John E. and Helena L. (Aughenbaugh) Moore.
He married Rita A. Osterman on June 5, 1954, in Decatur. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2012.
Viola E. Rinnger, 103, of Bluffton, died Tuesday in Swiss Village Retirement Community.
Among survivors are four sons, Gary K. (Rosetta) Ringger of Decatur, David L. (Maxine) Ringger, Tim R. (Marlene) Ringger, and Alan G. (Sheryl) Ringger, all of Bluffton; and two daughters, Jan M. (Bob) Sutter of Berne and Judy M. (Hubert) Isch of Bluffton.
