January 8th
Norma Marceline (Baker) Agler, 86, of Cape Coral, Fla., passed away on December 29, 2012, at Cape Coral Hospital.
She was born in Decatur to the late Franklin O. and Opal (Butcher) Baker on December 4, 1926.
Norma married her high school sweetheart, Noel L. Agler on September 26, 1948, after he had completed his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Vera Andress "Tutti" Dusseau, 88, died January 2, 2013, in Berne.
Among survivors are her daughter, Annette Dusseau, and her son-in-law Shawn Modula.
A memorial service is planned sometime in the future.
Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association.
January 7th
Norma M. Agler, 86, of Cape Coral, Fla., passed away December 29, 2012.
Arrangements are being handled by Nation Cremation & Burial Society.
Mark A. Russell, 56, Uniondale, passed away on December 15, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital.
He was born in Marion on July 16, 1956, to the late Carl E. Russell and the late Shirley R. McBride.
Mark married Claudine (Bleeke) Russell on May 2, 1981, in Bluffton.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1974-1977, then worked as a store detective for Ames Department Stores before becoming disabled in 1991.
Maurice C. Gase, 79, Markle, formerly of Decatur, died January 5.
Among survivors are his children, Christine (Michael) Fergusan of Ossian, Carrie L. West of Bluffton, Steven A. Gase of Bluffton, and stepsons Trevor (Michelle) Zell and Ben Zell, both of Fort Wayne.
A memorial sevice will be held on Wednesday, January 9, at 6 p.m. at Goodwin-Cale & Harrish Memorial Chapel, with a family gathering from 2 p.m. until time of service.
Henry J. Shetler, 86, of Berne, passed away at 2:55 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013, at his residence.
He was born in Adams County on November 5, 1926, to the late Jacob and Amanda (Hershberger) Shetler.
Henry married Marie Hilty on November 3, 1949; she survives.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish and was a minister in the church for 58 years. He was also a farmer.
Joyce A. Spitler, 67, Berne, died Saturday at Swiss Village.
Among survivors are her daughter, Amanda L.(Paul) Zerby, and son, David (Natalie) Spitler, both of Berne.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Geneva.
January 4th
Ruth Elaine Brown died on January 3, 2013, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Geneva, the only daughter of Theodore and Adah (Felty) Meyer.
Ruth married Willis Brown in 1957.
They raised their family in Geneva and only left home late in life to join their sons in S.C. The Browns attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Portland and Dutch Fork Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C.
William James Gibson, 80, died on December 14, 2012, in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
He was born in Hoagland on August 16, 1932.
Bill was a retired U.S. Army Veteran, who distinguished himself in the Korean War and through two tours in Vietman. He holds two Silver Stars and a Bronze Star for heroism.
Steve Hindenlang, 51, of Decatur, died on Wednesday, January 2, in the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
Among survivors are his parents, Gene and Judy Hindenlang; two sons, Joshua Hindenlang and John (Jazmen) Hindenlang; and daughter, Kayla (Rick) Meyer, all of Decatur.
Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m.
Burial will follow in the Ray Cemetery.
