November 5th
Harriet E. Hethcote, 97, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012, at Chalet Village Health Care Center in Berne.
She was born in Geneva on Monday, September 27, 1915.
She married William E. Hethcote in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Terry D. Ogg, 64, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital.
He was born in Adams County on Saturday, January 3, 1948, to the late Max E.Ogg and Helen J. (Owens) Ogg.
Terry married Joan M. Burkley on November 3, 1979 in Decatur; she survives in Decatur.
He served in the United States Navy during Viet Nam from 1967-1971. He was a member of The Bridge Community Church in Decatur, the American Legion Post 43, the NRA, and the VFW 6236.
LaMar E. (Bud) Taylor, 69, Madison, Miss., formerly of Decatur, died Saturday.
Arrangements are pending at Natchez Trace Funeral Home, Madison.
November 2nd
Peter P. “Pete” Clark, 73, of Decatur, died Friday, November 2, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Battle Creek, Mich., on January 8, 1939, to the late Arthur and Ruth (Huston) Clark.
Pete retired from Automatic Sprinkler with 29 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43, Moose Lodge 1311 and Eagles Lodge 2653.
Mary E. Crider, 82, of Van Wert, Ohio, passed away at 6:47 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born in Lima, Ohio, on October 17, 1930, to the late Francis C. and Sarah M. (Ault) Bauer Gleckler.
On February 2, 1951, she married George W. "Bill" Crider; he passed away January 18, 2006.
October 31st
Ethel E. McKinley, 89, of Bluffton, died Tuesday in Bluffton.
Among survivors are her husband, Victor McKinley; daughter Vicki (Lynn) DeArmond of Berne; foster son Michael (Tracy) Harmon of Findlay, Ohio; foster daughter Denise Harman Thompson of Orrville, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Mt. Hope Church, rural Berne, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Titusville, Pa.
Alfredo "Freddie" Mendez, 53, Decatur, died Sunday at Woodcrest Nursing Home.
Graveside services were held today at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
Jack W. Kirk, 68, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012 at Lutheran Hospital.
Born in Laporte, Ind., Jack was a diesel truck mechanic with Ryder Truck Rental for 28 years before retiring. He then worked for INDOT for nine years before retiring in 2004. He enjoyed gardening, working on cars, movies, classic rock music, woodworking, and spending time with family.
Naomi V. Von Gunten, 94, of Berne, died Tuesday at Swiss Village.
Among survivors are a son, Roger (Bonnie) Von Gunten of Berne; a foster son, Richard Sudduth of Fort Loramie, Ohio; and daughters Neva (Derryle) Pharr of Berne and Sueann (John) Alter Von Gunten of Elkhart.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Saturday at the Swiss Village Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at First Mennonite Church, with visitation one hour prior to services.
October 30th
Ronald L. Luginbill, 61, a lifelong resident of Decatur, passed away on Monday morning, October 29, 2012, at his residence.
Ron was born in Decatur on Saturday, January 27, 1951, to the late Robert L. Luginbill and Patricia L. (Beery) Luginbill.
