James Singleton

    James Singleton, 71, of Decatur, passed away at 11:10 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012, in the Van Wert Community Health Professionals Hospice.
    James married Oleta Garrett in Texas on November 17, 1960; she passed away on February 15, 2005.
    He was a member of the Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church and retired from Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne after 41 years of service.

Martha G. Gierhart

    Martha G. Gierhart, 89, of Berne, died Monday at Chalet Village Health and Rehabilitation in Berne.
    A Geneva native, she married Paul L. Gierhart, who preceded her in death.
    She is survived by a son, Virg Gierhart, of Bryant.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Downing and Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Geneva. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Thursday.

Florence T. Koors

    Florence T. Koors, 89, Monroeville, died this morning at Village of Heritage, Monroeville.
    Arrangements are pending at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home.

Robert D. Logan

    Robert D. "Robbie" Logan, 47, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday at his residence.
    There will be a private family service.
    Arrangements were by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.

April Ann Thompson

    April Ann Thompson, 51, of Decatur, passed away at 4:11 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012, in the Van Wert Hospital Emergency Room.
    She was born on Wednesday, March 8, 1961, in Bryan, Ohio, to Eugene A. Thompson and Mary S. (Caperton) Thompson.
    April was formerly employed by Dolco Packaging for 32 years.

Virginia J. Bacon

    Virginia J. "Jo" Bacon, 63, of Ossian, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital.
    She was born March 15, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, to the late John and June (Billings) Theisen.
    Jo retired from Ossian Health and Rehabilitation as Activity Director. She was a member of Ossian First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed planning family gatherings and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Earl E. Dawson

    Earl E. Dawson, 80, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    He was born on Friday, October 9, 1931, in Monroeville, to the late Harold R. and Eulalia M. (Martin) Dawson.
    Earl married Eileen D. Davis on September 6, 1952, in St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage next month.

Betty J. Guenin

    Betty J. Guenin, 84, Hoagland, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012, at Parkview Hospital.
    She was born on Sunday, September 4, 1927, in Bascobel, Wisconsin, to the late Walter N. and Minnie P. (Rogers) Hoffman.
    Betty married Lloyd E. Guenin on June 21, 1947; he passed away on April 29, 2005.
    She was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. She retired in December of 1988 from East Allen County Schools with 15 years of service in the cafeteria.

Leroy V. Hoagland

    Leroy V. Hoagland, 90, of Monroe, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012, at Adams County Extended Care Woodcrest.
    He was born on August 4, 1922, to the late Clarence and Beatrice (Whittenbarger) Hoagland.
    Leroy married his wife of 68 years, Ruth (Hannie) Hoagland, on December 18, 1943; she survives in Monroe.

Esther L. Patch

    Esther L. Patch, 86, of Decatur, passed away on August 10, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    She was born in Adams County on April 17, 1926, to the late Marcus and Rebecca (Mason) Luginbill.
    She married Jesse L. Patch on January 5, 1947; he died on November 29, 2008.
    Esther was a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur, where she was in The Women’s Missionary Society. She retired in 1988 after more than 20 years of service with Central Soya (Bunge) as a Research Secretary.
