January 11th
Robert L. Aspy, 95, of Hartford City, a longtime resident of Geneva, died Sunday in Hartford City.
He was born in Geneva on April 14, 1915, to Floyd and Kathryn E. Cook Aspy.
Surviving are a son, William Aspy (and wife Teresa) of Hartford City; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Kevin Alan Brantly, 52, of Decatur, died at his residence on January 4, 2011.
Alan married Laura Bieberich on January 29, 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Brantly of Decatur; three daughters, Mrs. Scott (Tara) Watkins of Florence, Mississippi; Mrs. Daniel (Kelly) Walker of Decatur; and Mrs. Doug (Vicky) Jackson of Monroe; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Dorothy Lucile Korte, 80, of Decatur, died at 8:45 a.m. Monday at her residence, following a 10-year battle with cancer.
She was born on November 28, 1930, in Convoy, Ohio, to Herman and Muriel Scaer Etzler.
She married Edwin Korte on June 27, 1953, in Convoy; he survives.
Sam H. Yager, 92, of Berne, died Monday in Swiss Village Retirement Community.
He was born in Adams County on March 6, 1918, to William and Lucinda Hocker Yager.
Among survivors are his wife, Frieda; a son, Glen Yager of Berne; and two daughters, Mrs. Max (Miriam) Reinhard and Mrs. John (Bernice) Augsburger of Berne.
January 10th
Ricky L. Bergman Sr., 61, of Berne, died last Friday at home.
He was born in Geneva on April 14, 1949 to Robert A. and Joyce L. Booher Bergman, who are deceased.
He was formerly employed as a steelworker at the former Decatur Casting plant.
Among survivors are three sons: Ricky L. Bergman (and wife Melissa K.) of Keystone, Indiana; Norman G. Bergman (and wife Melissa A.) of Geneva; and Doug W. Bergman of Monroeville, and one sister, Deloris Hofstetter of Berne.
Martha K. Girod, one, of rural Berne, died on Sunday at home. She was born on December 22, 2009 in Adams County to Matthew K. and Katie Beachey Girod.
Aside from her parents, surviving are two brothers, Menno K. and Jacob K. Girod, at home; one sister, Ann K. Girod, at home; her paternal grandparents, Ben and Esther Girod of rural Berne; and her maternal grandparents, Josiah and Rebecca Beachey of rural Berne.
Sharon Ruth Tonner, four, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday January 8, 2011, at her residence.
Her beautiful smile and wonderful laugh will be missed, but she can finally run and play like she always wanted to.
Sharon was born on September 6, 2006 to Jacob A. and Natalie (Winans) Tonner.
Solomon N. Wengerd, 75, of rural Berne, died on Sunday at home.
He was born in Geneva on August 31, 1935 to Noah and Christina Wickey Wengerd.
January 7th
Kevin A. Brantly, 52, of Decatur died on Tuesday at home. Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur.
Walter E. “Wally” Henkel, 80, of Berne, died Thursday, December 6, 2011, at home.
He was born to Edward and Margaret Schroeder Henkel.
Among survivors are his wife, Kathleen; one son, Kurt Henkel of Fremont, Ohio; and two daughters: Mrs. Kenneth (Denise) Nedimyer of Tavernier, Florida and Elise Schrock of Decatur.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne.
