November 4th
Dr. Otto Arnold Spiegel, 87, of Sebring, Florida, a former chiropractor in Decatur and known as "Dr. O.A." in Sebring, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lake Placid Nursing Home.
He was born to Otto and Stella Spiegel in Indiana on February 4, 1924, and the family moved shortly after to Wisconsin, where he grew up.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1941 and was a radio operator at a secret military radio station overlooking Pearl Harbor during World War II.
November 3rd
Mary E. Bauman, 93, formerly of Geneva, died Wednesday at Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
She was born in Geneva on November 25, 1917, to Jesse O. and Mary E. Campbell Callihan.
Among survivors are a daughter, Mrs. DeWayne (Cheryl) Lehmann of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and three sons, Jay Bauman of North Webster, Indiana; Deryl Bauman of Decatur; and Brian "Rudy" Bauman of Geneva.
Alyce A. Haugk, 65 years old, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, in Adams Memorial Hospital's emergency room. Her death was unexpected and followed a brief illness.
She was born on Tuesday, October 1, 1946, in Decatur, the daughter of the late Chalmer H. DeBolt and the late Ruth I. "Toots" (Macklin) DeBolt.
She married Elroy Haugk on June 5, 1966, at First Presbyterian Church in Decatur.
Leland W. Sprunger, 69, of Berne, died Tuesday in South Haven, Michigan.
He was born in Adams County on May 11, 1942, to Arley and Emma I. Cline Sprunger.
Among survivors are his mother, of Berne, and three sons, Toby and Jeff Sprunger of Berne and Aaron Sprunger of Fort Wayne.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in MRE Cemetery, rural Berne, and a funeral service at 3 p.m. Sunday in First Missionary Church at Berne.
November 2nd
Diana A. Flueckiger, 54, Berne, died Tuesday at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
She was the daughter of Donald and Yukiko Spillner of Fort Wayne.
She was married on October 17, 1980, to Kent Flueckiger, who survives. Other survivors, in addition to her parents, include a son, Landon, of Decatur; a daughter, Ashley Flueckiger of Huntington; and a brother, Michael Spillner of Fort Wayne.
Leland "Lee" Sprunger, 69, Berne, died Tuesday in South Haven, Michigan.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne.
October 31st
Teresa Annette Fisher, 59, of Liberty Center, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Canterbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne .
She was born on August 31, 1952, in Wabash County Hospital to Roger J. and Maxine (Lewis) Noble. On March 13, 1973, in Huntington, she married Terry L. Fisher. They shared 34 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on November 4, 2007.
Andy J. Hilty, 64, of rural Monroe, died Saturday in a traffic accident in Adams County.
He was born to Jacob J. and Emma J. Troyer Hilty.
Among survivors are his wife, Martha; three sons, Andrew and Levi Hilty of rural Monroe and James Hilty of rural Bryant; and four daughters, Mrs. Jonas (Rosann) Schwartz of rural Winchester, Ohio and Mrs. Devon (Marietta) Stutzman, Miriam Hilty, and Mrs. Chris (Kathryn) Graber, all of rural Monroe.
Phyllis J. Wittwer Martin, a resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away at The Cedars Retirement Center in Leo-Cedarville, Indiana, on Wednesday, October 26, 2011.
She was born on December 16, 1927, to Sam and Mary (Zimmerman) Wittwer.
She was married on June 9, 1963 to Jay Martin, who preceded her in death on March 24, 1989.
She was a member of Westview Alliance Church at 9804 Illinois Rd. in Fort Wayne, where she inspired all who came in contact with her.

Phyllis Martin, 83, of Leo-Cedarville, a former Decatur resident, died on Wednesday at The Cedars, a nursing home.
