Wayne B. Stuckey, 85, of 34 Willow Run, Woodcrest, Decatur, and formerly of Berne, died on Friday afternoon, September 16, 2011, at Woodcrest Retirement Community’s Nursing Center.
He was born on May 19, 1926, in Berne to Leslie I. and Elma (Winteregg) Stuckey.
September 19th
Sandra Sue “Sandy” Butcher, 71, of Decatur, passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at her residence.
She was born on July 7, 1940, in Adams County to Anthony and J. Edna (Miller) Gase.
She married Robert Eugene Butcher on October 27, 1956; he survives in Decatur.
Irene J. Lloyd, 60, of Decatur, died on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Irene was born on October 24, 1950, in Decatur to Paul and Clara (High) Hindenlang, who are deceased.
She married James M. Lloyd on November 1, 1968.
Irene was a member of Mt. Zion United Brethren in Christ Church, was involved in its Women’s Missionary Fellowship, and was an assistant song leader.
September 16th
Clifford Lee Hirschy, 77, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011, in Granbury, Texas.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Cross Community Church, 315 W. Main St., Berne.
Mr. Hirschy was born on February 15, 1934, in Decatur to Amos and Rosalene Marsh Hirschy.
He married Vera Wogenstein on July 21, 1979, in Fort Wayne.
He was an engineer and a tool-and-die maker in the aerospace industry.
Irene J. Lloyd, 60, of Decatur, died Thursday in Lutheran Hospital at Fort Wayne.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard, Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur.
September 15th
Janice E. Mackey, 70, of Geneva, died Monday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born to Eugene T. and Thadora Alberson Smith.
Among survivors are a daughter, Twila S. Mackey of Geneva, and two sons, Lionel R. Mackey of Charleston, South Carolina, and James E. Mackey of Muncie.
There will be no funeral.
The announcement was made by Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur.
September 14th
Nancy L. Scherry, 82, of rural Decatur, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born on July 11, 1929, in Culver, Indiana, to Rev. F.I. and Laura F. Braunschweiger Willmert.
She married Rolland F. Scherry on September 26, 1953, in Faith United Methodist Church at Fort Wayne; he survives. Nancy and Rolland were married by her father and brother.
Adeline A. "Addy" Schuller, 65, of rural Decatur, a teacher for many years, died on Monday at home after suffering an aneurysm last Friday.
She was born to Walter and Ludella Fuelling Wiese, who are deceased.
Among survivors are her husband, Dennis Schuller; two daughters, Mrs. Brad (Christine) Biggs of Decatur and Robin Schuller of Ohio City, Ohio; and a son, Dan Schuller of Fishers.
September 13th
Louise Hoover Burk, 94, formerly of York, Pennsylvania and Decatur, died at Luther Acres Manor in Lititz, Pennsylvania, on Sunday.
She was the widow of Jacob T. Hoover Sr. and G. Thomas Burk.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Rohland Funeral Home of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, handled the arrangements.
September 12th
Paula E. Hockemeyer, 93, of Decatur, died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday in the nursing center at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
She was born on October 11, 1917, in Allen County to Henry J. and Augusta Gick Nahrwold.
She married Walter Hockemeyer on January 22, 1941, in St. Paul Lutheran Church (Gar Creek); he passed away on November 16, 1991.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church (Fuelling).
