July 29th
Glenn R. "Butch" Griner, 64, of rural Rockford, Ohio, died Wednesday at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
He was born on May 2, 1947, in St. Marys, Ohio, to Walter and Beatrice Huston Griner, who are deceased.
On May 30, 1966, he married Jane Harris, who lives in Rockford.
July 27th
Karen Sue Piper, 64, of Celina, Ohio, died at 2:55 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born on February 24, 1947, in Celina to Robert and Marceta E. Detrick McCullough, who are deceased.
On June 26, 1966, she married Ronald "Butch" Piper of Celina, who survives; they were married for 45 years.
Catherine C. “Katie” Ward, 79, of Decatur, died on Monday, July 25, 2011, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Adams County to Charley P. and Esther N. (Stevens) Ward.
Katie attended Woodcrest chapel services and retired in 1980 from General Electric after 25 years of service. She was a member of the G.E. Quarter-Century Club and the Retired Ladies of G.E., and was a former member of the Heart Club of Adams County and the Adams County Diabetes Association.
July 26th
Lori A. Beer, 49, of rural Decatur, died at her residence on Saturday, July 23, 2011.
Lori was born on September 28, 1961, in Adams County, Indiana, to Dale Troutner and Carol (Hamilton) McKean.
Lori attended Union Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Decatur, was a member of Moose Lodge 1311 in Decatur, and was a homemaker.
Helen P. Buchanan, 69, of Willshire, Ohio, died at 5:39 a.m. Monday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born on February 3, 1942 in Hyden, Kentucky, to Buck and Mary Ann Sheppard Van Over, who are deceased.
She married J. Alvin Buchanan on April 23, 1961, in Southside Church of Christ at Fort Wayne. He survives.
Helen was a member of Fort Recovery Church of Christ in Fort Recovery, Ohio.
July 25th
Lori A. Beer, 49, of Decatur, died at home on Saturday.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur.
John Madison Hudson, 28, of Geneva, passed away at 2:58 p.m., on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born on Thursday, December 9, 1982, in St. Marys, Ohio.
John attended Mendon Union School in Mendon, Ohio and Parkway schools in Rockford, Ohio.
He worked at Cooper Farms in St. Henry, Ohio and had also worked in construction.
July 20th
Patricia M. Tinkham, 83, of rural Monroe, died at 4:45 a.m. Monday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Decatur on May 6, 1928, to Brenton and Ethel Turner Williams.
She married Maurice LeRoy Tinkham; he preceded her in death on January 16, 1969.
She was a homemaker, a farmer, and a former employee of Hammond's Grocery Store and Val Department Store, both in Decatur.
O. Duane "Skeezix" Sprunger, 68, of Berne, died Tuesday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Adams County on February 12, 1943, to Arthur and Leola Simon Sprunger.
Among survivors are his wife, Connie; one daughter, Mrs. Matt (Angela "Toots") Teeter of Berne; three sons, Randy Harris of Berne, Doug Harris of Monroe, and Tom Sprunger of Bluffton; and one sister, Suzie Roudebush of Berne.
July 19th
Daniel F. Herman Sr., 79, of Linn Grove, died at his residence on Sunday, July 17, 2011.
He was born on September 25, 1931, in Adams County to Franklin D. and Jessie (Cave) Herman.
On September 19, 1970, he married Marilyn C. Myers.
Daniel retired as a mechanic with Dan’s Auto Service and Balsiger Motors in Berne.
He was a member of the American Legion post at Bluffton and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Geneva.
