April 19th
Jerry L. Penrod, 67, of Bluffton, died at 10:15 a.m. Monday at his residence.
He was born on November 7, 1943, in Bluffton, the only child of Claude and Verda Gordon Penrod, who are deceased.
He married Joanna Jump on August 30, 1964, in Uniondale, Indiana, and she survives.
Steven B. Riley, 69, a lifelong resident of rural Monroe, died at 7:26 p.m. Sunday in Lutheran Hospital at Fort Wayne, where he had been a patient for six days.
He was born to Merle and Ida Girod Riley, who are deceased.
He married Pauline Schwartz on April 14, 1963; she passed away in 2002.
He was a member of Salem Community Church, serving as chairman of the board of trustees for many years.
April 18th
Rachel R. Graber, 91, of Berne, died today.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne.
William E. TouVelle, 86, a resident of Berne the last 30 years, died Friday at Harborside Care and Rehabilitation Center in New Haven, his home the past month.
He was born to Robert D. and Lucille Westonhaver TouVelle.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas S. TouVelle of Modesto, California, and William H. TouVelle of Venice, California; a sister, Cynthia TouVelle Hickman of Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Ryan D. Zimmerman, 25, of Fort Wayne, passed away in Decatur on Wednesday, April 13, 2011.
He was born on March 6, 1986, in Fort Wayne.
He was employed by Primco Inc. of Fort Wayne and was a member of River Christian Church.
Norma E. Agler, 90, of Decatur, passed away on April 14, 2011, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born on December 20, 1920, in Mercer County, Ohio to Aaron and Dovie (Mason) Ridenour.
She married Donald L. Agler. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1951.
Norma was a member of Faith Alive Ministries in Decatur, retired in 1981 from General Electric Corp. after 24 years of service, and was active in G.E. CODE Retired Women.
Geraldine M. Buuck, 86, of Hoagland, died at 12:55 p.m. Thursday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born on June 1, 1924, in Wells County to Martin C. and Paula Ostermeyer Gallmeyer.
She married Robert H. Buuck on September 22, 1945; he passed away on May 9, 2002.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Indiana Auto Auction. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Bingen and the Hoagland-Area Advancement Association.
James D. Briggs Jr.
James Day Briggs Jr., 89, of Geneva, chairman emeritus of the board of directors of Bank of Geneva, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana.
He was born in Geneva, Indiana, on July 3, 1921, to James D. and Mary E. Hoskinson Briggs.
Pauline E. Hilyard, 94, a longtime Decatur resident, died on Thursday in The Village of Heritage nursing home at Monroeville.
She was born in Adams County on September 22, 1916 to Earl B. and Rhuey J. Hakes Hilyard.
Surviving are one niece, Phyllis Colley of Monroe, Michigan, and four nephews: Max Hilyard of Angola, Indiana; Leonard P. Hilyard of Chicago; Terry E. Hilyard of Brownsburg, Indiana; and Richard Hilyard of Salt Lake City.
April 14th
Mattie Wickey, 97, of rural Berne, died Wednesday at home.
Among survivors are a son, David N. Wickey of rural Berne, and five daughters,Mrs. Joe (Maryann L.) Hilty of rural Monroe; Mrs. Mose E. (Christine) Schmidt of rural Salem; Josephine Schwartz of rural Milroy, Indiana; and Mrs. Jake B. (Mattie) Schwartz and Mrs. Jonas (Mandy) Schwartz of rural Berne.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Jonas Schwartz home, 2828 W. County Rd. 500 South, with burial in Schwartz Cemetery, rural Monroe.
