December 27th
Loretta Dunker, 71, of Berne, a resident of Swiss Village Retirement Community, died Thursday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church in Berne.
Graveside funeral services will be held later at St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery at Winamac, Indiana.
Arrangements were by Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne.
Velma L. Ehlerding, 95, formerly of Decatur and New Haven, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Born in Willshire, Ohio, she was the daughter of Theodore and Amalia Hofmann.
She was a member of Martini Lutheran Church in New Haven. Previously, she belonged to Zion Lutheran Church (Friedheim) in rural Decatur and its sewing circle and Ladies' Aid group.
John R. Girard, 76, of Decatur, died Saturday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur.
Paul M. Herman, 90, a former businessman in Berne, died Saturday in Duluth, Minnesota.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne.
David E. Lybarger, 90, of rural Bluffton, passed away at 12:16 p.m. on Saturday, December 25, 2010, at his residence. He died on his 90th birthday from injuries in an accident at his residence.
He was born on Saturday, December 25, 1920, in Geneva to Jesse and Jeanette Ineichen Lybarger.
He was a 1939 graduate of Hartford Township High School in Adams County.
He formally attended Old Salem United Methodist Church in Wells County.
Evelyn L. Oetting, 78, of Decatur, died at 3:27 p.m. Wednesday in Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was born on January 28, 1932, in Adams County to William E. and Elizabeth L. Kirchner Macke. Her father is deceased; her mother lives in Decatur.
Evelyn married Henry O. Oetting on December 18, 1953, in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Preble and they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary recently.
Robert F. Plummer, 76, a resident of Woodcrest Retirement Community in Decatur, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Defiance, Ohio.
He married Betty L. Griggs on June 19, 1954, in Antwerp, Ohio; she passed away on August 1, 2006.
December 23rd
Norma B. Zizelman, 89, of Rockford, Ohio, died Tuesday.
Among survivors is a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Marjorie) Brodbeck of Willshire, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, in Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home at Rockford, with burial in Friends Chapel Cemetery of Rockford. Visiting hours are 4-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday.
December 22nd
Alvin Hackman, 69, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Alvin was born on January 25, 1941, in Adams County to the late Anslem and Christine Hackman.
On August 3, 1989, he married Kathy Patrick.
Alvin worked for Prestress Services of rural Decatur as a truck driver and trucking supervisor and retired after 25 years of service.
William S. “Bill” Gravens, 82, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010, at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Bill was born on August 30, 1928, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Sanford and Ethel (Mansfield) Gravens.
Bill retired after 27 years of service from Kroger Distribution in Fort Wayne.
He served his country during World War II and the Korean War.
