Bellmont High School graduate Jay Krider ran the final 16 miles of Monday’s Boston Marathon while fighting the anguish of severe muscle cramping. What got Krider to the finish line of the 26.2-mile race was not so much what was in his heart as it was the sign he had attached — somewhat outside the race rules — to his runner’s bib.
The city of Berne is one step closer to the possible purchase of the former Dunbar Furniture building, and thus one step closer to demolishing the long-standing eyesore.
During a special meeting Thursday afternoon, council discussed a real estate certificate auction planned for today, debating whether to bid on the building and, if so, how much they were willing to pay to acquire the structure.
Bellmont High School will present Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer-prize winning play “Our Town” during performances Saturday and Sunday.
“Our Town” is the story of George and Emily and takes place in a sleepy little town which epitomizes America and the American dream. The play is a drama that “shows us not to take people we care about or our time together for granted,” said play organizers.
