Mayor proclaims Drug Facts Week

Decatur Mayor John Schultz has signed a proclamation officially declaring Jan. 27 through Feb. 2 as National Drug Facts Week, a time for youth to learn what science teaches about drug abuse and addiction, and how drugs affect the brain, body and behavior.

Two semis carrying large beams left the Prestress Services Industries LCC plant on Winchester Road north of Decatur Thursday morning en route to an unknown destination. The trucks had a large  contingent of Indiana State Police vehicles as escorts.

A reporter’s lonely day

    Mostly, I sat.
    Recently, the Decatur Daily Democrat initiated a new feature called “Lunch with a Reporter,” wherein a member of the editorial staff plops down at a local restaurant and makes themselves available to the public to share a cup of coffee and accept feedback, story ideas, newsworthy tidbits from residents or simply to exchange pleasantries.
    Well, I did manage to exchange pleasantries, but mostly, I just sat.
