The Adams County Rotary Club is set to receive a $3,000 district grant, which the club will match with an additional $1,500 to sponsor three benches in the Decatur branch of the Adams County Public Library's proposed Storybook Park.
Bellmont High School's graduating class of 1968 has already raised $5,000 to sponsor the park's other three benches, and continues to raise funds to sponsor lampposts and other items in the park.
The Decatur Fire Department was dispatched three times Saturday, the most serious of those incidents – a fire in an apartment building – being the last call of the day.
At 7:33 p.m. firefighters responded to a report of a shrub fire at the apartment of Terry Mayo, 1131 S. Hampton Dr. When firefighters arrived, they discovered the attic area of the apartment was engulfed, according to a spokesperson for the department.
Work continues at a steady pace at the site of the now-demolished former street department/city utility building.
Decatur Street/Sanitation Superintendent Jeremy Gilbert said Friday that the project is some 70 percent complete.

Illegal dumping in the town of Monroe's refuse collection area on S. Van Buren St. has led to the town council potentially taking large steps towards finding the culprits.
President Al Lehman told council members Thursday that the refuse area, which is supposed to be used as a compost site, has once again become the dumping ground for everything from garbage to building materials.
Adams County school districts, as well as those across several states, are rescheduling and retaking tests that were interrupted Monday and Tuesday.
Thousands of students in Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota and Oklahoma have been kicked offline while taking tests in recent weeks, postponing the testing schools planned for months and raising concerns about whether the glitches will affect scores, The Associated Press reported.
Dozens of Decatur residents devoted the middle of their day to prayer by the Peace Monument on Thursday, in keeping with the National Day of Prayer.
The noontime observance was held by the Decatur Ministerial Association.
Dr. Robert Brink of Decatur Church of God opened the service by explaining the need for prayer in everyone's life.

The Adams County Farm Service Agency office is currently without a director, and will be for the foreseeable future, according to Indiana FSA Director Julia Wickard.
A hiring freeze that has been in place at the federal level since December of 2012 prevents the United States Department of Agriculture from filling the vacancy, Wickard said.
The state director said Adams is not the only county in Indiana to currently be without a full-time director.
Rina Stuck, in her second term as Wells County Recorder, has been named Recorder of the Year by the Indiana Recorders Association.
The honoree is selected in voting by recorders in the 92 counties.
A 1983 graduate of Bellmont High School and the daughter of Bob and Bev Stuck of rural Decatur, Rina Stuck was elected to the Wells County post in 2008 and was re-elected to a second term in 2012.

A two-vehicle crash at 6:13 p.m. Wednesday resulted in one driver being admitted t Adams Memorial Hospital (AMH) with injuries, according to an Adams County Sheriff's Department report.

A house fire that killed a Decatur man late Monday evening has been ruled accidental, but the investigation into the cause of that fire is still undetermined, according to Assistant Fire Chief Jim Hitchcock.
