The monthly jobless report issued Monday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development showed unemployment in Adams County declined by .2 percent during July from the previous month.
Consistently sunny skies and below normal temperatures coupled with new exhibits and popular promotions helped the Indiana State Fair set a new total attendance record, according to an announcement by fair officials.
The 157th edition of the fair, which wrapped up Sunday, attracted 978,296 people through the gates – 4,394 more visitors than the previous record of 973,902 in 2009 and a 15 percent increase from last year’s total of 853,941.
The Adams County Service Complex may expand its parking capacity, according to County Attorney Mark Burry's report at Monday's commissioners meeting.
Burry informed the commissioners that James and Carol McGill are prepared to sell the empty lot east of the gym entrance to the Complex, across Third Street. Burry said the McGills' years-old appraisal priced the lot at $34,000 and recommended that the commissioners order another appraisal to make sure that price is still accurate.
