Some 12 hours after students returned to the classroom for the start of the 2013-14 school year, the North Adams school board finalized its teaching and employee roster for the current year.
Personnel moves approved by the board during its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday included the retirement of Ken Gase from the food service department with the district.
Superintendent Scott Litwiller gave an update to the South Adams School Board on Crossing Alternative School, which is entering its second year of operation, at Tuesday's meeting.
Litwiller reported that he visited the Crossing on August 16 and spoke with campus leader Tim Reyes. Reyes told Litwiller that they had begun classes on August 1, and things were going well.
With the 2013-14 school year under way, it seems the bulk of personnel decisions have already been made. There were a few finalized, however, during the Adams Central Board of Education meeting held Tuesday.
Submitting letters of resignation was special education aide Kate Schnitz, who accepted another job over the summer; special education aide Shelby McDonald, who is returning to college to further her education; and part-time kindergarten aide Emilee Green ,who accepted a full-time position over the summer.
