It now appears likely that the "ugly wall" left after the demolition of the longtime building at the corner of Monroe and Second streets in downtown Decatur will be covered by brick.
A comment launched near the end of Tuesday night's city council meeting turned into some hard decisions, the result being the strong probability that a brick wall will eventually cover the eyesore.

DECATUR, Ind. (AP) — Coni Mayer could see the impact from the windows of her office at Second and Madison streets in downtown Decatur.
The 19th annual Golden Meadows Home auction – held to benefit the Special Needs Resident Fund – will be held this Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. on the facility grounds at 3646N 200E, rural Decatur.
The family-friendly event will feature many new items and gift certificates from local businesses, as well as out-of-town organizations such as professional sport teams and amusement parks. Also for sale will be used merchandise in good condition, and lunch will be available for purchase at a food tent.
