City departments being realigned

    "It's really just a consolidation; a consolidation of employees and equipment," Decatur Mayor John Schultz said of a major change for city employees unveiled at Tuesday night's city council meeting.
    And that consolidation is expected to bring some major savings annually.

Dinner lends funds to four church ministries

    A recent fish and tenderloin dinner held at the First United Methodist Church in Decatur was a major success, raising more than $2,800, with the proceeds going to four of the church's community ministries.
    Over 450 meals were served and a jointly-yeld bake sale saw hundreds of baked goods sold to those attending.

Donations sought for Gehres benefit

    Family and friends will host a benefit for a rural Decatur resident, Scott Gehres, on Sunday, June 30, at the Knights of Columbus hall on High St. in Decatur.
    The benefit is scheduled from 12 noon to 8 p.m.,with a dinner provided to the public by friends and family. A free-will donation will be taken for the dinner.
    Live music,dance performances by Razz M' Jazz, raffles, a bake sale, and a silent and Chinese auction are currently being planned.
