House fires not linked – Fire death city’s sixth in less than four years

    A house fire that killed a Decatur man late Monday evening has been ruled accidental, but the investigation into the cause of that fire is still undetermined, according to Assistant Fire Chief Jim Hitchcock.

    First Merchants Bank, the Chambers of Commerce of Decatur, Berne and Geneva sponsored an economic outlook forum, moderated by IPFW Director of Community Research Institute John Stafford, at Adams Memorial Hospital on Tuesday.
    It was billed as the "first annual" such event.

ISTEP+ tests: schools here, across the state try again

    Schools in Adams County, along with those across the state of Indiana, were scheduled to resume ISTEP+ testing today after two days of computer glitches.
    The Indiana Department of Education issued a statement Tuesday evening saying it was ready to resume the required standardized proficiency tests Wednesday after two days of computer glitches affecting the exams’ online portion.
    North Adams, Adams Central and South Adams schools experienced disruptions.
