Two members of the North Adams school board met with a handful of residents Wednesday evening to discuss the school district's search for a new superintendent and to field questions surrounding survey forms that are being circulated to assist in that search.
About 40 people participated in the Winning with Wellness luncheon at the Adams County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, hosted by the Adams County Wellness Initiative.
Mayor John Schultz began the program, explaining that the Wellness Initiative was founded in November of 2009 and since then has strived to improve the mental, emotional, and physical wellness in Adams County.
Kim Fullove and Diana Macklin gave a history of the initiative, beginning in 2009 and highlighting its growth to the present day.

The beginning of a new year marks the halfway point for high schoolers. We've rounded the corner of second semester and are now in the home stretch with summer vacation quickly approaching.
June 2 is graduation day at Adams Central, and marks the end of an era; it will be the school's last traditional graduating class. This year's seniors will be the last to have gone through their school years learning in a traditional style classroom, and their graduation will mean a completely New Tech high school.

Spring-like conditions rolled into the Decatur area and Indiana on Tuesday, but it won't last long. In fact, temperatures already are heading down ... way down.
The city weather station recorded a high of 66 degrees on Tuesday — double the normal high of 33 degrees for this area on January 29. But the National Weather Service says tonight's low could dip all the way to 19, close to the norm of 17 for the date. And Thursday's high may reach only the low 20s!
The Adams County Spelling Bee was held at South Adams High School Tuesday night. A crowd of about 30 people turned out for the competition, which saw Jadon Evans, an eighth grader at Adams Central Middle School, emerge as champion.
After six rounds, the competition was down to Evans, and Ashley Rhoades, an eighth grader at South Adams Middle School.
Adams County Crime Stoppers is seeking the assistance of the public in locating a fugitive from justice.
In late 2004 or early 2005, Steven Eric Huffman allegedly opened checking and savings accounts at First Bank of Berne, MidWest America Federal Credit Union, and MarkleBank, depositing just enough money to open the accounts, according to Crime Stoppers.

The city of Berne will submit a preliminary report to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management by Friday's deadline, outlining its plan to enhance the city's waste water treatment process to meet new state mandates.
Bellmont High School's National Honor Society (NHS) has honored a pair distinguished graduates for their work: Pat Lose and Anthony A. (Tony) Frey.
Lose, who graduated with the class of 1971, obtained her Master's degree from Ball State in 1978. She started her career as a substitute teacher before getting a half-year job at St. Joseph School in Decatur, then became a fifth grade teacher in Centerville for 11 years before returning here to work as a fifth grade teacher at Monmouth Elementary.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — School districts would get a break on how long they have to hold onto their vacant buildings as possible charter school sites under a measure the Indiana House approved Monday.
Legislators proposed the changes after two school districts in the Fort Wayne area ran into legal troubles trying to sell unused buildings even though no charter school operators wanted them.

The Adams County Republican Party will hold its quadrennial reorganizational meeting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at GOP headquarters at 149 N. 2nd St. in downtown Decatur.
According to county Party Chairman Rob Noetzel, the state rules of the Indiana Republican Party set the guidelines which call for a reorganizational caucus every four years for the election of the county Republican Central Committee, including the selection of a county chairman, vice chairman, treasurer and secretary.
