Fleetwood no more; now ARG

    The names Fleetwood and Gold Shield have long been associated with the city of Decatur.
    Those names exist no longer, following a corporate shift which placed Fleetwood RV Inc. and Gold Shield under the corporate umbrella name of Allied Recreation Group.

Veteran Berne attorney, law director will retire Jan. 1

    Longtime Berne attorney James E. Beitler, Jr. has announced his plans to retire from the offices of Baumgartner and Beitler, Attorneys at Law, effective Jan. 1. 
    Beitler served 30 years as the city attorney for Berne during the mayoral administrations of Gaylord Stuckey, Delmar Neuenschwander, Blaine Fulton and Bill McKean.

‘When every river turned against us’

The documentary film “When Every River Turned Against Us — Lessons from the Great 1913 Flood” will make its broadcast premier tonight on Indianapolis Public Broadcast System station WYFI. The 30-minute film, in which officials and residents from Decatur are prominently featured for their recovery efforts following the 2003 flood in Adams County, will air at 7:30 p.m. The scene above shows mass funerals in Brookville, Ind., which followed the 1913 flooding.
