Class of 1963 donates to Storybook Park

Pictured are Adams Public Library director Kelly Ehinger accepting the class contribution from Don Poling, representing the Decatur High School Class of 1963. At a recent reunion held by the Decatur High School Class of 1963, funds were raised during a silent auction to contribute a tree, a brick and a general contribution to the Storybook Park in downtown Decatur.

The Bellmont boys and girls soccer teams each claimed sectional tournament wins over the weekend and will begin regional play later this week. The Squaws will square off against DeKalb in the East Noble regional on Wednesday , while the boys play Canterbury in the Carroll regional opener on Thursday.

Rural sewer project is progressing

    The engineer for the Adams County Regional Sewer District said Thursday evening he expects to submit a construction permit application for the county's first rural sewer project to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management within the next 60 days.

Maintenance costs continue to drain county’s resources

    At this week’s regular weekly meeting of the Adams County Commissioners, Service Complex Maintenance Supervisor Dave Meyer reported his department has “incurred some unexpected expenses” within the last week at both the Service Complex and the county courthouse.

North Adams seeks FCC permit to launch radio station

    The North Adams Community School's board of education on Tuesday gave its blessing to an application to begin a radio station conducted by students and used for educational purposes.

Housing authority changes coming

    The Fort Wayne Housing Authority's board of directors has voted to take over operations of its counterpart in Decatur, although final approval of that move will hinge on a vote of Decatur Housing Authority board members scheduled for later this month.

Golden Meadows pay hikes okayed by county council; for others, not so much

    Tom Magnan, administrator of the county’s Golden Meadows retirement home, appeared at the regular monthly meeting of the Adams County Council Tuesday morning to ask permission to raise the rate of pay for four members of his staff. Specifically, Magnan requested an increase in the hourly wages of three certified and non-certified nursing assistants, as well as the wage of the retirement home’s housekeeping/laundry supervisor.

     Members of the Adams Central Flying Jets volleyball team, shown above sporting pink jerseys recently in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, will travel to Heritage High School this evening for the semi-finals of the ACAC conference tournament.     Major healthcare changes are now in effect for the North Adams Community School district. Decisions surrounding the cost and availability of healthcare coverage were made at the Tuesday night's board of education meeting.
