An arrest has been made in the November 8, 2012, murder of Melinda Shinn, 26, Rockford, Ohio, about 25 miles southeast of Decatur, according to the Celina Daily Standard.
Daniel C. Martin, 40, was arrested in Fort Wayne where he has family. Police have also recovered Martin's Ford Explorer. No further information was immediately available.
For the second time in three years the military death of a young county resident was voted as the Daily Democrat's top news story of the year.
Nick Taylor of Berne was killed July 16 in Afghanistan while serving as a member of the Indiana National Guard.
Spc. Sergio Eduardo Perez of Crown Point, also died in the attack that included rocket-propelled grenade fire and small arms fire in the Kandahar Province during a mounted route clearance patrol.
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — The Fort Wayne-South Bend Catholic Diocese says its retired bishop has been diagnosed with cancer for a second time.
The diocese says 80-year-old Bishop Emeritus John D’Arcy (DAHR’-see) was diagnosed after he came down with nausea and a severe headache while in Boston for the holidays visiting family and friends.
It stood there tall and somewhat overpowering at one of the main downtown intersections. In its heyday, when the downtown was vibrant, full of retail shops and shoppers, the corner building at Second and Monroe streets was alive with hustle and bustle.
