Two Fort Wayne men are being held without bond today in the Adams County Jail in connection with several attacks on Amish residents in southern Adams County Monday.
Adams County Sheriff Shane Rekeweg announced this morning that his department, with assistance from the public and the Berne Police Department, was able to identify and arrest David Veliz, 19, and Alejandro Lopez, 18. Both are preliminarily charged with armed robbery.
South Adams High School's head football coach Jason Arnold will be the new athletic director (AD) at the school. The schools' board unanimously approved hiring Arnold for the position at a special meeting on Tuesday (Steve Dobler was absent).
Arnold will resign from his coaching position at the end of the season and will take on full-time AD responsibilities beginning Monday, Sept. 24. He will serve in both capacities for about six weeks.
David G. Maclean, 81-year-old Decatur resident, who was injured September 11 in a car-moped accident in the city, died Sunday in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Maclean had been in the hospital since the accident.
Police said this morning they were attempting to determine if the death was a result of the traffic accident.
