The City of Decatur is moving ever closer to regulating any "sexually-oriented" or "adult" business which may wish to set up shop here.
At Tuesday night's city council meeting, an ordinance 25 pages in length was presented for the first time and, no surprise, drew unanimous support from council. It will be a couple more weeks, however, before the ordinance which amends current city law will be in effect.
Longtime Berne attorney Robert L. Biberstein, 73, died this morning in Adams Memorial Hospital.
Berne's city attorney until the first of the year, Biberstein had suffered a stroke several weeks ago and had been recovering at Woodcrest in Decatur.
Superintendent Scott Litwiller gave the first-ever "state of the schools" address for South Adams to a room full of guests at a Berne Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Swiss Village on Tuesday.
Litwiller explained that the elementary, middle and high schools achieved "exemplary progress" status, or an 'A' rating, from the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) for the 2010-11 school year.
