Weather advisory issued for Adams County

    As of 12:30 p.m., Adams County is now at a WATCH Travel Alert Level. According to the Adams County Emergency Management, this status means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public.

4-6 inches said likely here, ending tonight

    Light snow began in falling in Decatur shortly after 7 a.m. today as the city and Adams County hunkered down awaiting the first major blast of winter.
    Snow accumulations of four to six inches are possible here, the National Weather Service (NWS) said. Blustery winds had already arrived, with 20-25 mph blowing and gusts up to 35 mph.
    This area remained under a winter storm warning.

AC board takes apps for opening

    The Adams Central Board of Education will accept applications through Monday, December 31, for an open position on the board.
    The board will meet on January 7 to interview applicants and will appoint a new member on January 14, according to an announcement.
    Those interested in applying for the position may submit letters of interest to the Board of School Trustees, Adams Central Community Schools, 222 W. Washington St., Monroe, IN 46772.

Arrests in Amish attacks voted No. 7 story

    The Daily Democrat is taking its annual look at the year's top stories, as chosen by employees of the newspaper. This year, we've decided to stretch out the usual Top 10 to a Top 12 — or 12 in '12.
    

    The Adams County sheriff’s and Berne police departments in mid-September collaborated to quickly arrest four suspects in attacks on members of the Amish community in the Berne area. The story was voted as the Number 7 story of the year by employees of the Daily Democrat.
