Arrangements for fire victim are pending

January 4, 2012

Services are pending at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home for Duane (Dean) Ingmire, 59, a 16-year reserve officer and a 14-year dispatcher with the Decatur Police Department who died Tuesday morning in a fire inside his home in Roe Acres, north of Monmouth.
Among Ingmire's survivors are two sons.
It is believed that smoke inhalation was the cause of death, although that has yet to be determined by the coroner.

Fire death fifth in 26 months

January 4, 2012

It confounds and disappoints Decatur Fire Chief Les Marckel and the entire Decatur Fire Department: a department which had gone 20 or more years without a fatality in a home fire has now had five in a little more than 26 months.  Dean Ingmire, a longtime member of the Decatur Police Department, is the latest, having died in a fire in his home early Tuesday morning.

Building vote said likely next fall

January 4, 2012

It now appears the possibility of a joint city-county building being built in Decatur will be placed before Adams County voters next fall.
That possibility came to light near the end of Tuesday night's Decatur City Council meeting when new councilman Cam Collier asked Mayor John Schultz the status of the ongoing discussions.
Schultz replied that monthly meetings are being held, with the next one coming up soon, and it appeared that the matter would be taken to the voters in the fall.
