Moves planned to save wear on NAdams buses

    In an effort to more evenly distribute the wear on fleet buses, North Adams Schools Director of Transportation, Facilities and Grounds Larry Carty told the schools' board of education on Tuesday that a plan has been developed to shift some of the vehicles between routes.

Refinancing to save $171,300

    To take advantage of currently low interest rates, the Adams Central School Board voted 7-0 at its September meeting to refinance the remainder of the bond issue that came with the construction of an elementary school addition in the early 2000s.
    By refinancing, AC will save almost $179,000, according to a report presented at the meeting by Damian Maggos of City Securities of Indianapolis, an AC fiscal advisor for a number of years.

Hospital radiology gets first nuclear medicine approval

    Adams Memorial Hospital's radiology department has completed the process for obtaining a three-year accreditation in nuclear medicine from the American College of Radiology (ACR).
    A hospital news release said this is the first time the hospital has received accreditation for nuclear medicine, which is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material administered to patients to diagnose and treat a variety of diseases, including cancer and heart disease.
