The issue of golf carts popped up at Monday's meeting of the Adams County commissioners as they discussed the matter with State Rep. Matt Lehman of Berne.
Lehman attended the meeting to say that, when the legislature passed a law in 2009 to let cities and towns regulate golf carts, counties were left out of that law, although County Attorney Mark Burry pointed out that the law refers to "local authority," which he says also means counties.
With the roof atop the South Adams Senior Center badly in need of repair, Berne Mayor John Minch on Monday evening recommended that architectural specifications be assembled sooner rather than later to get the repair process under way.
Council first discussed the need to initiate roof repairs at the senior center during its July meeting. At that time, Councilman Mark Wynn said the roof at the center currently is "about as bad as a roof can get."
Film director David Anspaugh's next movie is being readied for release late this year or early in 2012.
It's called "Little Red Wagon" and is about a Florida boy, now 12, who walked from Tampa to the state capital at Tallahassee to help homeless children when he was 7 years old, taking his mother and a red wagon along.
The boy, Zach Bonner, has also walked across the United States in his quest to aid children who have no homes.
