Paperwork begins on old bridge re-erection

    The lengthy paperwork process has begun for re-erecting a large railroad bridge over the Wabash River between Berne and Geneva as part of the South Adams Trails hiking and biking project.
    Adams County Engineer Tim Barkey told the county commssioners last week that the bridge, which was dismantled by the Bunge North America plant in Decatur last summer and currently is in storage at Geneva, will probably be reinstalled at its new site in 2014 because it will take that long to complete the process.

City joins early move toward a joint building

    A proposed city-county building in downtown Decatur took another step toward reality Tuesday night when Decatur City Council unanimously agreed to spend the funds necessary for its involvement in such a project.
    While a city-county building still has numerous hoops to jump through, momentum seems to be building. Now that the city has committed to paying the Schenkel Schultz architectural firm of Fort Wayne to move forward on plans, it's almost assured the county will follow suit.

Local band to perform during 175th festival

    A Decatur rock and alternative music band called My Lost Tribe will perform twice on Saturday, August 27, in downtown Decatur during the city's 175th anniversary celebration.
    The first show will be during the sidewalk sale at the Adams County Courthouse from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and the second show will be that evening at a "battle of the bands" at Vinnie's Bar on N. Second St.
