By order of the Indiana General Assembly and by design of the state's Department of Education, a new system of teacher evaluations will go into effect next year for all public school and charter school instructors.
At the December meeting of the Adams Central school board, Superintendent Mike Pettibone, a member of the Indiana State School Board, gave a video presentation about the evaluations.
The St. Marys River was expected to crest at about 17.4 feet — just above its flood stage — in Decatur this morning, local weather station officials were informed by the National Weather Service.
A saturated city received .16 of an inch of rain in the past 24 hours, boosting the three-day total to 1.26.
The St. Marys, meanwhile, has risen 10 feet in the past 48 hours, to 16.6 feet at 7 a.m. today.
The area continues under a flood warning.
Officials of Adams Memorial Hospital have announced that for the fifth year in a row AMH has been listed as an error-free healthcare facility by the Indiana State Department of Health.
Tom Nordwick, president of Adams Health Network, which operates the hospital and other sites in Adams and Allen counties, said continuation of error-free status "is due directly to the work put in by our staff and strict adherence to patient safety issues."
