And it's not even December yet.
Decatur and Adams County residents, along with much of northeastern Indiana, got a double dose of weather Tuesday, rain being followed by the first snowfall of the season.
So, this morning, the St. Marys River was up, streets and roads were slick, and most schools were closed.
Meanwhile, the Berne Fire Department pulled a driver from some high water early Tuesday evening.
Although he didn't look like a college professor during much of his appearance at Adams Central on Tuesday, Dr. Lowell Madden of the Indiana-Purdue campus in Fort Wayne was right in his element as a magician and a proponent of using famous books by Dr. Seuss to enlighten children.
He performed for more than 80 second graders at AC's elementary school.
Before he put on the Cat in the Hat outfit, the professor performed a magic trick involving an egg in a glass on someone's head.
In the midst of snow and chilly conditions, Decatur firefighters spent some four hours on Tuesday battling a fire at Woodpecker & Son, a large workshop located three or four miles north of Decatur.
The building was destroyed by the blaze.
The woodshop is owned by John Yoquelet and is located at 10063 N. County Road 100 West.
A fire department spokesman this morning estimated the building to have been 30 by 60 feet.
