Officials of the Adams County chapter of Love In the Name of Christ have announced that 32 more sponsors for local needy children are being sought for the annual Emmanuel Project.
The project, which provides Christmas gifts to needy children in the county, has 432 sponsors, but 464 children on the list, according to Claudia Karges, executive director of Love INC.
Any person, business, organization, church, etc. may be a sponsor. To apply, call Love INC (728-4503) as soon as possible, officials said.
Some members of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants basketball players and coaches put on a clinic for the youngsters in the local parks and recreation department's Biddie Basketball program on Sunday.
The youth were instructed on basic dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and slam-dunking skills. Mad Ants players also took the time to take photos with the kids and sign autographs.
ELKHART, Ind. (AP) — A former Indiana State Police post commander accused of stealing more than $91,000 in state money has pleaded guilty.
The Elkhart Truth reports that former state police Lt. Dallard Tackett pleaded guilty Monday to six counts of forgery, one count of official misconduct and 10 counts of theft in Elkhart Superior Court. Tackett admitted to misappropriating funds from the Toll Road Post between 2007 and 2010.
