In what could be considered the "last hurrah" for Decatur Police Department Detective Eric "Keebie" Meyer, two men wanted in connection with the armed robbery on November 10 at the S.M.O.K.E.S. Tobacco Shop were apprehended in Fort Wayne on Monday.

Question: What do those years have in common?
Answer: They are all anniversaries not only of Decatur, but also Adams County, since both came into being in 1836, 20 years after Indiana became a state in 1816.
Decatur held celebrations for the centennial in 1936 and for the sesquicentennial in 1986 and, now, city leaders are gearing up to celebrate the 175th birthday next year.
A new wave in family practice medicine in Adams County is on the horizon as it was learned that the first woman general practitioner in county history will locate her office in Decatur after the first of the year.
Dr. Crystal Jencks has signed a contract with Adams Memorial Hospital to become the latest physician who is a hospital employee. She will start her practice in the middle of January in suite C of the Physician's Office Building at 815 High Street.

"It was wild!" — literally and figuratively.
That was the reaction by Zack Gagle, an employee of Eichhorn Jewelry in downtown Decatur, about 20 minutes after he witnessed a medium-sized deer, a doe, with her front hooves up on the top of the front door glass.
Adams County Prosecutor Chris Harvey has announced that a 19-year-old Fort Wayne man, Devonte M. Jones, has been charged with armed robbery and criminal confinement in regard to alleged crimes at a Decatur business on November 10.
Jones is in custody in Allen County, Harvey said. A second suspect in the case has apparently not been apprehended.
The crimes allegedly were committed at the S.M.O.K.E.S. Tobacco Shop on S. 13th St. when Jones and another man entered the store.
November 18th
A proposal to make four single villas into two larger villas at the Woodcrest Retirement Center was approved Wednesday night at the monthly board of trustees meeting of the Adams Health Network (AHN).
Jim Compton, executive director of the United Way of Adams County (UWAC), has announced that the Eli Lilly Foundation in Indianapolis has approved the UWAC for a grant which will provide matching funds.
“During the present campaign to raise funds for 2011, all new donors’ gifts will be matched, dollar for dollar,” Compton said. “For those who were able to support the United Way last year, any increase will be matched dollar for dollar.

The 98-year-old, onetime Pennsylvania Railroad depot on Seventh St. hasn't been forgotten.
The empty building is in line for some future repairs and it could even get an occupant before long, Mayor John Schultz said at Tuesday night's Decatur City Council meeting.
Andy's Coney Bar will hold a fundraiser from 5-9 p.m. this Friday at the Knights of Columbus Pavilion, 1703 High St., Decatur.
Andy's —a new business in Decatur to hopefully open the first of the year — will be serving coney dogs, chili and old-fashioned root beer on Friday. Also planned, organizers said, are sales of cotton candy, children's activities, a silent auction, raffles and more.
