Ninety-three years after being placed on an interior wall of the new Kirkland Township High School, the large marble plaque with the names of the school trustee, the advisory board, the Adams County school superintendent, the building architect, and the builders of the school has been removed.
The plaque will be given to Adams Central Community Schools for display purposes, since the Kirkland Township school district was closed some 60 years ago when it became part of the AC district.
Help has come to Operation Help.
The Decatur-based food bank shut down a week ago because of a lack of money and delayed delivery of government-provided groceries. Both problems have been resolved, however, and Operation Help is operating normally again.
Mary Jo Toole, who heads the food bank, said Thursday that the site in the basement of the Adams County Service Complex in Decatur is open today from 1-3 p.m. and will maintain its usual hours, which are 1-3 p.m. each Tuesday and Friday.
