Leaders of the Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) have announced that a company is supporting the project with a donation which will match funds raised by the local group.
"Game Time/Sinclair Recreation has agreed to match all donations raised by November 5 up to $35,000," MOPS said in a news release. "This means that all contributions will be doubled!"
Time, however, becomes a key factor as only funds raised by November 5 will be matched. Later donations will not be included in the match.
Decatur Mayor John Schultz announced today that the annual Callithumpian Fireworks show will be delayed one week due to extreme dry conditions.
The fireworks were scheduled to be held this Saturday, but have now been postponed to Halloween, Sunday, October 31, at 9 p.m.
Schultz said he and Fire Chief Les Marckel are hoping the city will get some much-needed rain before the new date.
Trick or treating will be observed that same Sunday, from 6-8 p.m., with the fireworks at 9.
