Ludella L. McDowell, 101, formerly of Decatur, passed away at 1:55 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011, at Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
She was born on November 27, 1910, in Berne to Benhardt and Dinah (Habegger) Lehman.
She married John McDowell on March 23, 1979; he passed away on September 1, 1986.
Eunice Sprunger Suman, 65, of Fairland, Indiana, formerly of Berne, passed away on December 1, 2011.
She was born on June 11, 1946, to Irvin and Norma Agler Sprunger, who are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, John Suman Jr.; two daughters, Marla Thornton and Melissa Price; two grandchildren, Levi and Ava Price; three stepchildren, Trudi Diehm, Stacey Smyser, and Tim Suman; five stepgrandchildren, Eric and Jonas Diehm, Ben Smyser, and Zach and Jade Suman; and one brother, Lee Sprunger of Berne.
Betty J. Patrick, 84, formerly of Monroe, died Thursday in Swiss Village Retirement Community at Berne.
She married George H. Patrick on January 21, 1945, in Van Wert, Ohio; he survives.
Betty was a homemaker who also worked as an aide at Crows Haven Nursing Home in Flint, Michigan.
She was a member of Friends Church at Monroe, of which she was the clerk for 27 years, and also had attended Park United Brethren Church in Bluffton.
Harold E. Myers, 86, of Berne, died Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Chalet Village in Berne.
He was the son of Floyd and Wilma (Tinkham) Myers. Harold was the owner of Myers Furniture in Willshire, Ohio, and had also worked for Sheets Furniture in Decatur. Later, while living in Florida, he was associated with Sambo's and Clock Restaurants.

BERNE— For the first time in a span of about a season and a half, 24 games to be exact, the Lady Starfires of South Adams won a basketball game, and they did it in dominating fashion over the Muncie Burris Lady Owls, 56-39.
Coach Ryan Cunningham, now 1-5, paced the sidelines for most of the game grumbling about the turnovers in the game, and with good reason. His team had 32 of them.
The good news for SA was that Burris had 47.
An almost $12 million bond issue was authorized by the East Allen County Schools Board on Tuesday to create a single-school campus at what is now Heritage Junior-Senior High School.
The school, located between Hoagland and Monroeville, would house students from kindergarten to 12th grade.
The plan is to pay off the bond issue in less than 20 years. It was announced that a typical owner of a $100,000 home would have a $8.84 property tax increase per year.
A football signed by Anthony Gonzales, a receiver for the Indianapolis Colts and a former star for the Ohio State Buckeyes, is among items to be sold at the 37th Adams County Sheriff's Reserves Auction this Saturday.
The event will be held at the Krueckeberg Auction site on Adams St. in Decatur, starting at 9 a.m.

The Monroe Town Council wanted to take action on a proposed water rate increase at Thursday night's meeting, but could not do so because a legal advertisement which town officials had published was incomplete.
A more detailed legal ad will be printed soon in local newspapers and the council will hold a public hearing on the proposed water rate hike and vote on it in a special session at 7 p.m. on Monday, December 19, in Town Hall.
Eunice Suman, 65, of Fairland, Indiana, a native of Berne, died on Thursday in Greenwood, Indiana.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne.
