The turkeys who survived Thanksgiving 2010 in Indiana may have drowned before the holiday was over.
Heavy rains hit the state Wednesday and Thursday, bringing flash flood warnings in many counties.
Officials at the Decatur weather station said this morning that a total of 2.36 inches of rain fell in the city over the two days, swelling the St. Marys River to 11.4 feet at 7 a.m. today — an 8-foot rise since a 3.4-foot reading at the same time Wednesday.
Paul E. Cornett, 54, of Decatur, died at 10:21 a.m. Tuesday at his residence.
He was born to Willie and Betsy Mae McQueen Cornett, who are deceased.
Elinor K. Hirschy, 72, of Decatur, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Lutheran Hospital at Fort Wayne.
She was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 4, 1938 to John and Thelma Hileman Bilderback. Her father is deceased, but her mother, now Thelma Kitson, lives in Decatur.
She married Robert E. Hirschy on May 18, 1957 and he passed away on June 1, 2000.
She was employed for 28 years at the former Decatur Bank and Trust Co., until retiring in 2003.
Carl Thompson "Tom" Bartlett Jr., 77, passed away on Monday morning, November 22, 2010, at his home.
He was born August 24, 1933, in Muncie, the son of Grace (Robinson) Bartlett and Carl T. Bartlett.
His dad, Carl T. Bartlett Sr., started Bartlett Auctioneers in 1929 and Tom joined him in business in 1951 and remained in the auction business until he retired in 1997.
Anne M. Gage, 54, of rural Decatur, died on Monday, November 22, 2010, in Adams Memorial Hospital.
Anne was born on February 27, 1956, in Decatur to Jack and Mary (Peterson) Gaffer.
On October 1, 1977, she married Roger Gage.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur and its Rosary Society.
Anne worked at West End Restaurant in Decatur for more than 40 years as a manager.
Glenn Dale "Butch" Mosser, 84, of Geneva, passed away at 12:41 PM, on Monday, November 22, 2010, at his residence.
He was born on Monday, August 23, 1926, in Hartford Township of Adams County to Harold Mosser and Ruth (Fox) Mosser.
Glenn married Margaret M. Derickson on August 17, 1945 at the First United Methodist Church parsonage in Geneva. Margaret passed away on August 20, 1996.
The jobless rate in Adams County continued its downward trend in October.
According to statistics released Tuesday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the county's unemployment rate dipped to 9.1 percent last month, down from 9.4 percent in September and 9.9 percent in August.

Outstanding senior back Nathan Busse, who had combined rushing and receiving stats of nearly 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns, led the Central group, which included sophomore quarterback Dalton Combs, senior center Clayton Lengerich, senior two-way lineman Travis Snyder and runningback-defensive back Spencer Balash.
