For Adams Central, 2012 collided with 1964 and 1966 last night.
This year's Flying Jets tied the school record for season victories at 19 with a stirring and dominant 74-62 conquest of Bishop Luers in the Class 2A sectional title game at South Adams. AC (19-3) also posted 19 wins in the 1963-64 and 1965-66 seasons, under coach Vernon Zurcher and including the school's first 1,000-point scorer, Roger Schnepp.
Bellmont senior Allison Gutierrez has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Indiana University East starting with the 2012 season. Red Wolves coach Charlie Brown announced the signing Feb. 29.
Gutierrez is a 5-6 defensive specialist who helped Bellmont High School win the 2010 Indiana Class 3A state championship. She was an honorable mention academic all-state selection and an all-conference libero as a senior. She ranked 13th in the state with 4.5 digs per game, according to the MaxPreps Web site.
Once again a group area residents met with the Adams County Commissioners Monday to address concerns regarding the Adams County Animal Shelter.
Joanna Stanley of Decatur said that according to a veterinarian in Berne, whom she declined to name, the animals at the shelter are suffering from upper respiratory infections, which are highly contagious to other animals as well as humans.
"Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" is the newest theme of a police push to crackdown on drunk drivers, it was announced Monday by Decatur Police Chief Ken Ketzler.
A recent story in the Democrat outlining the selection process for candidates for the District 2 seat on the North Adams school board incorrectly listed the geographic boundaries for the district.
District 2 includes the eastern half of Root Township, east of County Road 000; all of Union Township, and a portion of Washington Township.
LaVon Naomi Grice, 90, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Ossian Health Care.
LaVon was born in on September 26, 1921, in Decatur, to the late Don and Della (Cook) DeBolt.
She lived all her life in or around Decatur; however, the past five years she has resided at Ossian Health and Rehab.
She married Frank J. Grice on June 9, 1939; he preceded her in death.
Danny Dwayne Morgan, 66, Bluffton, died on Saturday, March 3, at his residence.
Among survivors are his wife, Debborah (Cowan) Morgan of Naples, Fla.; sister, Paula (Steven) Holloway of Decatur; and brother Gary (Karla) Morgan of Decatur.
There will be a private family memorial held at a later.

The Northeast Hoosier Conference has announced its boys basketball conference squads for the 2011-12 year with two Braves making the list.
Homestead, who finished unblemished in the conference, placed two players on the first team, Nick Gamble and Zach Terrell, as did fellow conference teams New Haven, Columbia City, and Norwell (Kyle Fillman and Josh VanMeter) who all finished at the top of the standings. Carroll (freshman Chandler White) and DeKalb put one player each on to round out the first team.
BERNE— Senior Maverick Baumer and junior Dalton Combs both put up 20+ points for the Jets in their sectional final win against the Bishop Luers Knights held at the Stardome on Monday night, 74-62, earning them the right to cut down the nets.
