Carolyn E. Ehinger

February 22, 2012

    Carolyn E. Ehinger, 75, of rural Decatur, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.
    Born November 7, 1936, in Roanoke, Carolyn is the daughter of the late Harold D. and Evelyn B. (Neuer) Simon.
     Carolyn married Arthur L. Ehinger on June 11, 1955, at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, in Huntington.

Braves stumble at Dwenger

    FORT WAYNE— Turnovers plagued the Bellmont Braves once more as they travelled to Bishop Dwenger to face a tough Saints squad and lost 71-43 on Tuesday night.
    The Braves, now 4-15, are still working out some of the kinks in the rotation. Seniors Payton Selking, Nick Fuelling, and Logan Smith seem to be out of coach John Baker's doghouse for the time being as they played significant minutes last night after a string of games with sparse minutes sparked by a lackluster effort at DeKalb last week.

Starfires blow lead under a minute against Winchester

    BERNE—It was South Adams Senior Night at the Stardome Tuesday night but it was a pair of seniors from Winchester that stole the show as the Starfires lost a heartbreaker to the Golden Falcons, 51-50.
    Cody Woodbury and Connor Detweiler will both be players that South Adams coach Andy Browns and the Stars will be happy to see graduate in May as they combined to score 37 of the 51 Winchester points including a game-winning hoop with 6.2 seconds to play by Detweiler, his only two-point basket of the game.

Bridge restoration continues

    With supports now in place, Jutte Excavating, Fort Recovery, Ohio, has begun the process of removing the remaining sections of the Ceylon Covered Bridge to dry land to continue work on the restoration project.
    Cranes will be brought in this week to remove the sections to dry land to continue the restoration of the historical bridge.
 

New traffic lights in town

    The Hoosier CO Inc. of Indianapolis has torn up curbs on Monroe St. intersections at four locations in Decatur prior to replacing overhead traffic lights, an Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) project.
    The lights at First, Second, Third and Fifth will be replaced, improving traffic flow, INDOT officials have told city officials.
    The curbs are being torn up in order to put down new electrical equipment used by the lilghts.

Indiana lawmaker opposes honor for Girl Scouts

    INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A lawmaker has sent a letter to fellow Republican members of the Indiana House saying he will not support a resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts because he believes it is a ‘‘radicalized organization’’ that supports abortion and promotes homosexuality.

Betty M. Feasel

    Betty M. Feasel, 89, of Decatur, passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2012, in Adams Memorial Hospital.
    Betty was born on Friday, January 26, 1923, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Varlando and Bertha (Flager) Clark.
    She married Bille Joe Feasel on July 19, 1953; he preceded her in death on May 2, 2002.

Dortha M. Hirschy

    Dortha M. Hirschy, 89, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    She was born on August 26, 1922, in Adams County, to the late Forrest and Lessie (Watkins) Ray.
    On December 6, 1941, she married Wayne H. Hirschy.
    Dortha was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church and retired in 1985 from C.T.S. in Berne after 21 years of service.

    Dortha M. Hirschy, 89, of Decatur, died on Sunday at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Arrangements are pending at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
