Dorothy P. Bacon, 90, of Decatur, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, at 9 a.m., at the Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Dorothy was born October 29, 1921, in Adams County, to the late Fredrick and Sarah (Michel) Wenger.
She married Samuel A. Bacon on January 19, 1941, in Fort Wayne; he passed away April 22, 2009.
She was a 1939 graduate of P.A. Allen High School and was a homemaker.
Jerry R. Brandt, 68, of rural Decatur, died on Monday, April 2, 2012, in Adams Memorial Hospital.
Jerry was born on August 28, 1943, in Decatur, to Dale L. and Alvina P. (Butler) Brandt, Sr.
On February 25, 1967, he married Barbara J. Miller.
Rickie L. Elzey, 64, of Fort Wayne, passed away on April 1, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital.
He was born on October 18, 1947, to Norma C. (Keller) Elzey and the late Vilas Elzey Jr.
Rick graduated from Bishop Luers High School and earned an associate's degree in accounting from Saint Francis College. He served his country in the United States Army and retired from General Electric with over 30 years of service.
Lew E. Heiser, 70, of rural Decatur, died Mondayat his residence.
He was born to Ray E. Heiser and Pansey L. (Biggs) Heiser.
He is survived by his friend, Mike Harmon, of Decatur.
There will be no services.

The South Adams Schools Board, at a special meeting on Friday, accepted a bid of $747,300 from CDI Development Services LLC, for the former elementary school property located at the corner of US 27 and St. Route 218 in Berne.
The bid from CDI was the only one received and it is $54,500 more than the most recent appraised value of $693,000. However, the property appraised for $721,000 in 2011, when the deal with GKB Enterprises to build a CVS store fell through.
The Limberlost State Historic Site site in Geneva will host a Golden Easter Egg hunt starting at 11 a.m. this Saturday.
Participating youngsters will have the opportunity to gather as many eggs as they can, an announcement said. Those who find special Golden Eggs will win a grand prize.
The unemployment rate in Adams County dropped slightly during February, according to a report issued Friday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The new report showed Adams County with a February jobless rate of 8.3 percent, down from 8.5 percent in January and identical to the December 2011 rate.
The county's unemployment rate one year ago was 8.8 percent. Friday's report showed that 1,243 members of Adams County's total labor force of 14,944 remained without work last month.
Barbara Leistner, 85, of Rockford, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 30, at Woodcrest of Decatur. She was born to Homer and Nellie (Myers) Leistner on April 16, 1926.
She married Paul Leistner on September 22, 1946; he is deceased.
Barbara was a member of the Bethel Brethren Church in Berne. She was a member of the church choir, a deaconess, served on the building committee, was director of the Girls Youth Club, and a member of the Senior Citizen Club.
Martha R. Speicher, 93, passed away Saturday morning, March 31, at Swiss Village where she was a resident.
She was born to Edwin and Leah (Nyffler) Speicher on December 14, 1918.
She was a member of the Cross Community Church and the Dorcas Circle. She retired from Eastern Indiana Oil and Supply Company in Geneva where she was employed from 1947-1983. She volunteered at Et Cetera Ecke, in Berne.
