All go for rural sewer bid openings

    After more than five years of debate and at-times raucous discussion, bids for the construction of Adams County’s first-ever rural sewage collection system project will be opened in early March.
    Members of the Adams County Regional Sewer District board spent the bulk of their regular monthly meeting Thursday night dotting the “i’s” and crossing the “t’s” in anticipation of the bid openings scheduled for March 10 and March 12.

Litwiller bemoans reductions in state school financing

    South Adams Schools Superintendent Scott Litwiller stepped onto a soapbox during a portion of Tuesday night’s monthly school board meeting to speak up for public education and comment on the continued reductions in funding for public schools by the state legislature and department of education.

Kalver joins the wrestling Hall...again

    The Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame announced recently that WZBD broadcaster A.J. Kalver will be this year's inductee as the media person of the year at the annual postseason banquet.
    This is the first time that the IHSWCA media distinction award has been presented to a radio broadcaster.
    Kalver is already in the IHSWCA Hall as a coach, having been inducted in 2011.

AC staffer dismissed; officials remain tight-lipped

    The Adams Central school board on Tuesday unanimously voted to terminate the contract of a teacher at the high school.
    No reason was given for the decision to terminate Deanna Myers-Ledesma, life skills teacher at Adams Central. The board in November voted to suspend Myers-Ledesma, retroactively to Oct. 21.

North Adams school board okays stipend for fill-in teacher who has kept BHS radio/TV program alive

    Dedication and hard work pays off. That was the message the North Adams Community Schools’ Board of Education sent to radio/TV instructor Drew Derengowski Tuesday evening.
    NA Superintendent of Schools Brent Lehman told the board the radio/TV program at Bellmont High School garnered a lot of interest from students, however the program didn’t have an instructor.
    That’s when substitute teacher Derengowski — a former student of the program — stepped up.
