Johanna C. Rafert Buuck, 97, a former resident of the Decatur area, died at 12:04 p.m. Monday in Van Wert In-Patient Hospice Center at Van Wert, Ohio.
She was born on February 11, 1914, in New Haven to Rev. H.B. and Lydia Boettcher Kohlmeier.
She was married twice: first to Wilfred Rafert on December 25, 1936, who died on November 18, 1963, and then to Erwin Buuck on February 12, 1972, who died on January 3, 1982.
Annabelle Fralick, 90, of Convoy, Ohio, died at 2:02 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2011, in CHP In-Patient Hospice Center at Van Wert, Ohio.
Annabelle was the daughter of Home Franklin and Violet Addie Engle Rummel. She was born on October 31, 1920, at the family's farm on Wolfcale Rd., rural Convoy.
Juanita V. Wells, 89, of Decatur, died today at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur.
BERNE—South Adams cross country fortunes improved dramatically last Saturday as they hosted their annual Invitational and won the boys race by placing four of their top five runners in the top 10 and earned a second place finish in the girls competition.
A 12-member jury in Wells Circuit Court at Bluffton found a Bluffton man, Tyler White, guilty of murder on Monday for the shooting death of his estranged wife, Amy Meyer White, a former Berne resident, last October.
"We finally got what we wanted. We wanted the truth to be told and I think that's what we got," said grieving, but relieved Mike Meyer of Berne, the father of the victim, according to this morning's edition of the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.
A two-vehicle accident at 6:50 p.m. Monday injured three occupants of a SUV and closed traffic on U.S. 27 in Geneva for over an hour, according to a report this morning from the Geneva Police Department.

OSSIAN—Adams Central had a shot at claiming the IHSAA tennis sectional championship Saturday at Norwell after blanking county rival South Adams 5-0 in the semi-finals in the morning, but fell 4-1 to the host Knights in the afternoon title match.
Norwell, which had defeated Bellmont recently by a 3-2 count in a dual meet, repeated that same score with wins coming in the same three events again on Saturday in the other semi-final round to make sure the defending sectional champs would not repeat.
FORT WAYNE—Despite the wet, sloppy grounds, a pair of Bellmont girls set new personal season best times in the Northeast Hoosier Conference cross country meet held at the Plex while only three seconds separated Evan Boucher from a top 10 individual finish in the boys race.
Boucher's performance listed him on the NHC all-conference second team but more importantly made him only the second BHS male runner to make the all-conference team all four years of his high school career (Ryan Vendrely the other from 2003-2006).
