Preble has become the 14th community in the U.S. Postal Service’s Greater Indiana District with a Village Post Office (VPO).
The VPO opened last week in the Preble Feed & Grain business in Preble. It became the 73rd VOP in the United States.
A major concern now behind him, Decatur Mayor John Schultz had high praise at this week's city council meeting for the work done on the demolition of the building at the corner of Second and Monroe streets.
Safety was a concern, with a major street near one wall, another building near another wall, and even City Hall close by. But the operation went off without any major hitches.
James M. Everett, 65, Decatur, died Sunday at Adams Memorial Hospital.

YORKTOWN — “If that’s the best team in 3A, and we’ve got (Brad) Busse in the lineup, you’re looking at maybe a two or three-point match today. We wrestled well enough to stay with them,” stated Bellmont wrestling coach Brent Faurote Saturday afternoon following Bellmont’s 41-27 loss to 3A No. 1 Yorktown in the final round of the annual Yorktown Thanksgiving Duals.
KINGSLAND—Norwell senior Josh Vanmeter put up 20 of his 24 points on the Jets in the second half to lead the Knights past the Jets at the Castle on Saturday night, 77-42.
Vanmeter made the opening field goal straight off the tip cashing in on a driving lay-up but then Norwell went cold for the next four minutes. Adams Central took advantage of several Knights’ miscues jumping out to a 12-2 lead before Vanmeter would break the four-minute slump with a smooth drive and score.
