The seventh annual Christmas Open House, sponsored by the Decatur Small Business Association, was held Friday and Saturday. Many activities were held Saturday, including a visit from Santa Claus. Above, an uncertain Elih Brown of Decatur takes his turn on Santa’s lap.

Paul Zurcher, president of Zurcher’s Best-One Tire, was recently presented with a $500 donation for the Northeast Indiana Honor Flight at the annual training day celebration of First Bank of Berne.
The Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices by flying them to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials erected in their honor. The flights are offered at no cost to veterans.

For the first time in 22 years, the South Adams Starfires have a shot at a semi-state championship. And the students of South Adams are most definitely caught up in the excitement.
Despite a regular season record of 3-6, many Starfire fans and students were looking forward to the playoffs with hope, remembering last year’s mediocre season which led up to a sectional victory.

FORT WAYNE— The Lady Starfish swam circles around the South Side Archers on Thursday night taking first AND second in nine of the 11 events for a lopsided 134-41 victory.
Brette and Ashton Klopp, along with Cady Farlow, were all double winners, while all three relay races were also won by the Stars.

Dianna R. Parris, 65, Berne, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014.
Among survivors are a son, Matthew (Jennifer) Parris of Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Shawna (Phillip) Parris-Mckee of Eaton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Leanna, Alexis and Likas Parris; and Devon McKee; five great-granchildren, Alexander and Rayeanna Kissinger; Zuri Placke; and Maralyn and Kellin O'Dell.
Funeral service is at 5 p.m. Friday at Memorial Baptist Church in Eaton, with pastor Dave Souers officiating.
