The total projected cost to construct the new Adams County Jail is now set at $22,413,381, Construction Control Inc. Decatur’s storm water rates could be doubling in the near future and going even higher in another year via a recommendation given city council on Wednesday night by Crowe Horwath, an accounting and consulting firm.
That may not be as overwhelming as it seems, however, as the current average rate is $1.80 a month and would go to $3.50 and later $4.50, if approved. And approval is likely as city officials have on several occasions stressed the need to boost rates in order to fund capital improvement projects.
