Lieu Ann Maxwell, 83, Berne, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Swiss Village Retirement Center in Berne.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Joe) L. Hedrick of Geneva; and a son John (Louise) E. Whitaker of Spearsville, La.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Swiss Village Retirement Community, Berne, with Pastor Barry McCune officiating.
Burial will be in Grave Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
Unemployment in Adams County inched up slightly during January from the previous month, but still remained at levels not seen for nearly six years as 2014 got under way.
The duplicitous nature of Indiana county government is causing some staffing problems for Adams County Sheriff Shane Rekeweg.
Rekeweg appeared before the Adams County Commissioners Monday afternoon to ask their permission to replace two full-time jail officers who have recently submitted their letters of resignation. One officer has already left his staff, Rekeweg told commissioners, and the second will spend his last day on the job Friday.

Alice L. Baumgartner, 83, Berne, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, in Chalet Village, Berne, where she resided since August 2011.
Alice was born Tuesday, May 6, 1930, in Willshire, Ohio, the daughter of the late John H. and Helen (Reichard) Young.
She married Dale F. Baumgartner Feb. 24, 1951, in Monroe; he passed away May 22, 1993.

Kimberly Lynn Nussbaum, 57, Columbia City, died Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne.â€¨
Kim is survived by her daughter, Victoria Plemons of Columbia City; and four brothers, Charles Burris of Columbus, Ohio, Don Burris and Mike (Mary) Burris of, both Bluffton, Ohio and Bob (Sheryl) of Rushville, Ohio.
Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Knoll Cemetery in Columbia City.â€¨
RuthAnn Penrod, 68, Decatur, passed away at 1:22 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, following a brief illness.
RuthAnn was born July 30, 1945, in Decatur, the daughter of Harold C. Hoffman, who died April 17, 2006, and Myrtle M. (Schrock) Hoffman, who died Jan. 5, 1965.
She married Richard L. Penrod April 6, 1979, in Washington D.C.; he survives.
RuthAnn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-Mormon, in Decatur.
Sack & Save supermarkets in Decatur, formerly Community Markets, will close its doors for good in the near future, according to a press release issued by the supermarket’s parent company, Fresh Encounter.
A spokesperson for the Findlay, Ohio-based company said an inventory reduction sale will run while supplies last. Everything in store will be reduced 30-50 percent until inventory is exhausted. Some exclusions apply, company officials said.
